THEATRE TECHNOLOGIST
Duties and Responsibilities:
(i) Prepare and maintain the operating theatre and related equipment
before, during, and after surgery.
(ii) Sterilize, arrange, and ensure availability of surgical instruments and
materials.
(iii)Assist the surgical, anesthetic, and nursing teams during operations.
(iv)Maintain aseptic techniques and ensure infection prevention and control
at all times.
(v) Clean and disinfect surgical instruments and equipment after use.
(vi)Monitor and maintain theatre equipment, reporting any faults or
breakdowns promptly.
(vii) Prepare patients for surgery and ensure their safe transfer to and
from the operating theatre.
(viii) Maintain accurate records of surgical procedures, instruments,
and supplies used.
(ix)Ensure proper waste segregation and disposal according to hospital
policies.
(x) Participate in theatre quality improvement, emergency drills, and
continuous professional development activities.

Requirements for Appointment:
(i) Diploma in Theatre Technology or Operating Theatre Technology from a
recognized institution.
(ii) Registration with a relevant professional body where applicable.
(iii)Proficiency in infection prevention and control practices.
(iv)Proficiency in computer applications.
(v) At least one (1) year of experience in a busy theatre setup will be an
added advantage.
(vi)Meets the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya.
