Role Overview:
We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Midwife to join our maternity team. The successful candidate will provide holistic care to mothers and babies throughout the antenatal, intrapartum, and postnatal periods, while ensuring patient safety, dignity, and comfort.
Responsibilities:
• Provide care and support to women during pregnancy, labor, and the postnatal period.
• Monitor the condition of mothers and babies, recognizing and responding to emergencies promptly.
• Assist normal deliveries and assist obstetricians in complicated cases.
• Educate and support mothers on breastfeeding, newborn care, and family planning.
• Maintain accurate patient records and ensure effective handovers.
• Uphold infection prevention, patient safety, and hospital protocols.
• Provide emotional support and reassurance to mothers and families.
• Collaborate with doctors, nurses, and allied staff in delivering multidisciplinary care.
Qualifications:
• Diploma KRCHN, KRN/KRM or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN) with Midwifery specialization.
• Registration and valid practicing license with the Nursing Council of Kenya (NCK).
• At least 2 years’ continuous maternity experience in a hospital setting.
Skills and Competencies:
• Excellent knowledge of maternal and newborn care.
• Strong communication, teamwork, and patient counseling skills.
• Ability to remain calm and effective in high-pressure situations.
• Compassionate, respectful, and patient-centered approach.
• Flexibility to work shifts, nights, weekends, and public holidays.
