OPTOMETRIST III
Duties and Responsibilities:
(i) Conduct visual acuity and refraction tests to determine refractive errors.
(ii) Prescribe and fit corrective lenses such as spectacles and contact lenses.
(iii)Detect and manage common eye conditions and refer complicated cases
to ophthalmologists.
(iv)Provide advice on visual hygiene, lighting, and eye protection.
(v) Participate in school and community vision screening programs.
(vi)Maintain accurate patient records and prepare reports.
(vii) Ensure cleanliness, calibration, and proper use of optometric
equipment.
(viii) Provide health education and counselling on preventive eye care.
(ix)Assist in training lower-level staff and interns in optometry procedures.

Requirements for Appointment:
(i) Diploma in Optometry or Vision Science from a recognized institution.
(ii) Registration and valid practicing license from the Optometrists and
Opticians Board of Kenya.
(iii)Proficiency in computer applications.
(iv) Meets the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya.
