BIO-MEDICAL ENGINEER
Duties and responsibilities
(i) Plan, install, test, calibrate, and maintain medical and laboratory
equipment in hospitals and health centers.
(ii) Conduct preventive and corrective maintenance of biomedical equipment
and systems.
(iii)Evaluate and recommend medical equipment and technologies for
procurement.
(iv)Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards for all
medical devices.
(v) Maintain inventory and records of medical equipment and spare parts.
(vi)Train and supervise biomedical technologists, technicians, and health
facility staff on proper equipment use.
(vii) Prepare technical specifications and participate in the evaluation of
tenders for medical equipment.
(viii) Conduct technical investigations and prepare reports on
equipment performance, breakdowns, and replacements.
(ix) Advise management on biomedical equipment management policies and
strategies.
(x) Liaise with suppliers and contractors to ensure timely servicing and
support of medical devices.

Requirements for Appointment:
(i) Bachelor’s Degree in Biomedical Engineering or equivalent qualification
from a recognized institution.
(ii) Membership in a relevant professional body (e.g., Institution of Engineers
of Kenya) will be an added advantage.
(iii)Proficiency in computer applications.
(iv) At least three (3) years relevant experience in a hospital or health-related
setting will be an added advantage.
(v) Meets the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya.
