NEONATOLOGY NURSE
Duties and Responsibilities:
(i) To provide intensive care to newborns in the Neonatal Intensive Care
Unit (NICU).
(ii) Monitor vital signs and maintain accurate records of neonatal patients.
(iii)Administer prescribed medications, oxygen therapy, and feeding as per
protocols.
(iv) Operate and maintain neonatal equipment such as incubators,
phototherapy units, and ventilators.
(v) Support and counsel mothers on infant care, breastfeeding, and
hygiene.
(vi)Collaborate with pediatricians and other specialists in managing
neonatal conditions.
(vii) Ensure aseptic techniques and infection prevention measures are
maintained.
(viii) Participate in neonatal emergency interventions such as
resuscitation.
(ix)Maintain a safe, warm, and nurturing environment for infants.
Requirements for Appointment:
(i) Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from a recognized institution.
(ii) Higher Diploma in Neonatal Nursing or Pediatric Nursing.
(iii)Registration with the Nursing Council of Kenya.
(iv)Valid practicing license.
(v) Training in Neonatal Resuscitation and Pediatric Life Support is an
added advantage.
(vi)Meets the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya.
