REGISTERED NURSE III
Duties and responsibilities will entail:
(i) Providing appropriate healthcare service including Integrated
Management of Childhood Illness (IMCI), Immunization, PMTCT, antenatal care, labour, birthing and post-natal services.
(ii) Providing health education and counseling to patients /clients and
community on identifies health needs.
(iii)Referring patients and clients appropriately.
(iv)Facilitating patients’ admission and initiating discharge plans.
(v) Maintaining record on patients’ /clients health condition and care.
(vi)Ensuring a tidy and safe clinical environment.
(vii) Collecting and compiling data.
(viii) Conducting assessment of school health needs.
(ix) Assessment, diagnosis and management of individuals across the life
cycle utilizing relevant standards and protocol stipulate in the scope of
practice
(x) Provide emergency care in line with stipulated guidelines
(xi) Order, perform and utilize laboratory and diagnostic finding to provide
health care to patients according to relevant protocols and guidelines,
and as prescribed in the scope of practice.
(xii) Prescribe selected drugs and administer any other prescribed
medication to clients/patients as stipulated in the scope of practice
(xiii) Contribute on specification and quality checks to determine
suitability of medical health devices and supplies in health care.
(xiv) Prescribe and perform selected medial surgical procedures as
stipulated in the scope of practice.
(xv) Contribute to designing and implementation of community health
initiatives/programmes.
(xvi) Provide a link or interface between the community and the
appropriate health system.
Requirement for appointment
(i) Diploma in any of the following disciplines; Kenya Registered Community
Health Nursing, Kenya Registered Nursing, Kenya Registered Midwifery,
Kenya Registered Nursing/Midwifery or Kenya Registered
Nursing/Mental Health and Psychiatry or its equivalent from a
recognized institution.
(ii) Computer proficiency
(iii)Registered practitioner by Nursing Council of Kenya
(iv)Valid Practicing license from Nursing Council of Kenya
(v) Member of relevant Nursing and Midwifery Associations.
Training in Critical Care Nursing, Renal Nursing, Anaesthesiology and Neonatal
Care Nursing will be an added advantage.
