Qualifications, Skills and Experience Required:
For appointment to the grade of Driver II (SHA Grade 10), an officer must meet the following minimum qualifications:
1. Cumulative service period of three (3) years of work experience at the grade of Driver III or in a comparable position.
2. Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) mean Grade D plain or its equivalent qualification.
3. A valid BCE driving license free from any current endorsement(s).
4. Passed Occupational Trade Test III for Drivers.
5. Defensive Driving Certificate from the Automobile Association (AA) of Kenya or its equivalent qualification from a recognized Institution.
6. Refresher Course for drivers lasting not less than one (1) week at the Kenya Institute of Highway and Building Technology (KIHBT) or any other recognized Institution.
7. First-Aid Certificate Course lasting not less than one (1) week from St. John Ambulance or Kenya Institute of Highway and Building Technology (KIHBT)or any other recognized Institution.
8. Valid Certificate of Good Conduct.
9. Proficiency in Computer Application.
10. Demonstrated merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results.

Responsibilities:
The Driver II is responsible for the safe and smooth mobility of Authority employees and resources, ensuring that assigned vehicles are maintained in optimal working condition, and adhering strictly to established traffic laws and Authority fleet management policies.

Key Responsibilities
Duties and responsibilities at this level entail performing the following functions:
1. Driving vehicle(s) as authorized.
2. Ensuring the safety of the passengers and/or goods therein.
3. Ensuring security and safety for the vehicle on and off the road.
4. Adhering to the Traffic Act, and the Authority’s policies and procedures on fleet management.
5. Reporting any incident that involves injury, or damage to any passenger, pedestrian, or third-party property immediately, in line with established policies and procedures.
6. Carrying out periodic checks on the assigned vehicle to determine maintenance needs and reporting accordingly and on time.
7. Keeping up-to-date vehicle mileage log and maintaining work tickets for vehicles assigned.
8. Ensuring cleanliness of the assigned vehicle at all times when in use or otherwise and that the vehicle is in good condition before use.
9. Ensuring the assigned vehicle(s) is always fuelled in line with the policies and procedures on fleet management.
10. Ensuring that the vehicle is taken for service when due.
11. Inspecting assigned vehicles and keeping up-to-date insurance documents.
12. Ensuring the assigned vehicle(s) has the necessary tools (toolbox, spotlight, umbrella, fire extinguisher, and an equipped first aid kit).
