Position: Director, Clinical Services; Job Grade: KUH 2;[REF No: DCS/VERT2/2025].

Job Purpose
The Director, Clinical Services will provide strategic leadership in planning, coordinating and
delivering high-quality healthcare services across the Hospital. This role ensures compliance with
national health policy, professional ethics and institutional standards while driving innovation,
efficiency and optimal patient outcomes.

Duties and responsibilities
Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the Director will:
i. Lead the strategic direction and delivery of specialized clinical services.
ii. Develop and enforce clinical policies, procedures and professional standards.
iii. Manage hospital-wide healthcare programs and optimize patient flow.
iv. Ensure proper management and accountability of all resources within the clinical directorate.
v. Conduct regular clinical audits and ward rounds to ensure service excellence.
vi. Champion clinical research, innovation and technology adoption.
vii. Foster strategic partnerships with national and international health stakeholders.
viii.Align hospital services with national health policy through active engagement.
ix. Manage and lead clinical teams for excellence in service delivery.
x. Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and standards.
xi. Maintain databases of clinical assets, trials and intellectual property.
xii. Analyze clinical outcomes and implement risk mitigation strategies.
xiii.Prepare and submit Board and Management reports.
xiv.Provide governance and operational oversight of clinical services.
xv. Implement recommendations of internal and external audits.
xvi.Any other duty as may be assigned.

Key Qualifications and Experience Requirements
The ideal candidate should possess:
i. Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB), Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS),
Bachelor of Pharmacy (BPharm) or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution;
ii. Master’s degree in a health-related field from a recognized institution;
iii. Valid practicing license.
iv. Registration with a relevant professional body.
v. Specialist recognition certificate in a clinical field will be an added advantage.
vi. Minimum 15 years of relevant experience, with 5 years in senior management level or a
comparable position.
vii. Leadership Course lasting not less than four (4) weeks from a recognized institution.
viii.Compliance with Chapter Six of the Constitution.

ii. Strategic thinking and ability to lead multidisciplinary teams.
iii. Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
iv. Strategic focus and effective cost management.

Terms of Service
The successful candidate will be engaged on a five (5) year contract renewable once subject to
satisfactory performance
