New Life Mwangaza Rehabilitation Center was established out of the felt need to address the problem of many street children that were affected by the problem of drug and substance abuse. Back in 2003 there were a number of organisations, and development workers, active in Mukuru slum in South B, were working with children; particulary children from the streets of Nairobi. These organizations were focussed on helping street families and rescuing vulnerable children from the streets. The aim was to get children off the streets and transform them so that they can live to be normal and resourceful adults.
For this reason and with the aim of helping the vulnerable children from the street who have abused drugs,New life mwangaza rehabilitation centre was started under the management of ESVAK (Ex-Spring Valley Kayole) Community Development Organisation through a Memorandum of Understanding with DKA Support Office.
The centre accomodates 64 clients annually but a maximum of 32 clients per intake.

Products and services
1)RESIDENTIAL
-New Life Mwangaza Rehabilitation Centre offers a 6-month residential drug rehabilitation service, and at least a one year of training and psycho-social support to enable clients to build their lives away from the streets.
2)AFTERCARE AND VOCATIONAL TRAINING
-After the 6-month residential programme clients are placed to vocational training or schools. Mwangaza supports the clients by paying fees and providing for basic living expenses (rent and daily living costs) for at least one year alongside ongoing aftercare from social worker and counsellors.
3)ALLUMNI ASSOCIATION
-To achieve mission all clients who graduate from different vocational centers as well as schools are brought together to a common forum which becomes now the alumni of Mwangaza.
4)PARTNERSHIP.
-We partner with learning institutions, we also offer practicum for students offering counseling services, attachment for social worker as well internship for the newly graduated students, we also partner with volunteers for a period of not more than one year and we also encourage any learning institution to partner with us so as to help us in giving the best to our clients.
